Jay’s Boot Camp offers free boot camp classes in the Headquarters at Seaport every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. Jay is the official trainer for the Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleaders and the boot camps offer a great way to kick start the weekend. Classes are held in the open-air courtyard of the revitalized former San Diego Police Headquarters along the waterfront in downtown San Diego. Handsome and friendly California desert tortoises – our endangered state reptile – and many other species of turtles and tortoises will steal the hearts of Balboa Park visitors during San Diego Turtle & Tortoise Society’s annual show and always popular plant sale. On August 1st and 2nd, visitors will be able to get “up close and personal” with these wonderful creatures and learn about their proper care and how to adopt (no animals are sold). Admission to the annual show is free and it will be held at Balboa Park in Casa del Prado, Room 101. The show will run on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Beautiful plants, delicious baked goods, refreshments, great t-shirts and other turtle related items will be available for sale. 教育：University of San Diego Launches Online Master’s in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership

According to numerous interviews with local law enforcement organizations, a new approach to criminal justice education is needed. In response, the University of San Diego has announced the launch of its online Master of Science in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership program, which will begin September 8, 2015 with final applications due August 10, 2015 to apply for it. The program was created with collaboration from the San Diego Police Officers Association, Deputy Sherriff’s Association of San Diego, and a number of experts from other law enforcement and public safety agencies in San Diego County. The degree is designed to fulfill the critical needs missing in traditional criminal justice programs by providing tangible leadership and management skills that address the needs of contemporary law enforcement. The degree is a 31-unit program that can be completed in 20 months and covers a variety of topics, including leadership, conflict resolution, critical decision making, ethics, and budget and finance. The fully online format accommodates busy schedules and is geared toward law enforcement and public safety professionals focused on fast tracking their careers. Members of law enforcement and public safety associations or unions are eligible for a reduced tuition rate of $619 per credit hour (regular $699).
