附警方通告:
Attempted Child Kidnapping
At about 7:50 am on Wednesday morning (Nov. 12th), a Dingeman Elementary School student on her way to school was approached by two men in a pick-up truck outside her home on Roxboro Road. They drove up and told her to get into their truck. She immediately ran back into her house and called for help, and the suspects drove off.
The two suspects are described as Caucasian males with brown hair in their early 30s. They were driving a gray pick-up truck. School Police are working on the case, and Dingeman families were contacted by the principal. Police do not have a license plate. There is no word yet on whether police have enough of a description for a sketch.
Please talk to your child about stranger danger and discuss what to do if a stranger approaches your child. If you have any information that would be helpful, please call School Police at 619-291-7678. Also, contact the Scripps Ranch Civic Association Neighborhood Watch and we will share the information with the community.
Please talk with your children and grandchildren about safety. Where to go and whom to report an incident. If you have any questions, the SRCA is here to help.
Remember – in an emergency, where you feel threatened or are witnessing a crime in progress, dial 911. If you witness suspicious activity or feel that something just isn’t right, call the SDPD non-emergency line (858-484-3154). Everyone should have this number programmed in their cell phones so that it is readily available.
Neighborhood Watch has become one of the most effective means of fighting crime in our community. This is because you and your neighbors are the ones who:
1) really know what is going on in your area,
2) are most likely to be the first to see a crime, and
3) may be available to immediately call for help.
Please be vigilant in safeguarding your home. Burglars are looking for any possible opportunity to get in and out fast. Lock your doors and windows, lock side gates and set your alarm if you have one.
Please consider forming a Neighborhood Watch in your area.
