洪水泛滥! 向以阳光灿烂著称的圣地亚哥目前的状况几乎可以如此形容。整整五天，从太平洋袭来的暴风雨，雨量之大已经将圣地亚哥多处公路淹浸，极大地影响了交通网络。供电部门报告有众多地区出现断电。仅今（12月22日）上午从凌晨到10点多钟，市交通部门已接到十几宗交通事故报告。
气象部门说这是自1980年以来罕见的暴风雨。从18日开始到今天，雨连续下个不停，天空乌云笼罩，狂风阵阵，一会儿毛毛细雨，一会儿瓢泼大雨，一会儿倾盆豪雨。圣诞节前这几天，很多人仍在上班，驱车奔波于路上。由于下雨积水严重，AAA救护站、消防队甚至于警察局频频接到人们打来的紧急求助电话，或是车辆被水包围停滞、或是滑坡、或是车祸。
被关闭的大水淹没的道路和区域有： Qualcomm Way（今一早6点半，消防部门将一爬上车顶求救的男子救出，如图）；Hotel Circle Place 周围； Mission Center Road； Fashion Valley mall 停车场；State Route 78 从 Interstate 5 到 El Camino Real段。

— Wildcat Canyon Road at Willow and San Vicente, due to flooding;

— Eastbound state Route 78 at El Camino Real, more flooding.

Oceanside 至市中心的轻轨交通服务Coaster和Amtrak已停止，因为Encinitas出现山坡塌方，Sorrento Valley 车站遭严重水浸。从这里一直到Torrey Pines 区域的道路也已遭水淹而被关闭。Poway 从 Espola Road 到 state Route 67 遭严重水浸，该区还出现最严重断电，以至两千五百户居民昨晚无电力供应。
CHP部门从昨天半夜到今早7点接到交通事故报告达71宗，而前一天（21号）全郡共发生了343个交通事故。
因为暴风雨恶况，慈善机构的送递运作也严重受阻，很多圣地亚哥贫困家庭难以得到捐助的当天食品和玩具上门。
气象部门测得大部分地区雨水量达2英寸，而最严重的积水深达13.9英尺（1980年曾达到16.30英尺）。气象预报称，暴风雨可能将在明（星期四、12月23日）离开，天气渐转晴朗。
